Long-timers to rock Bodles

Chester Fairport “Acoustic” Convention, a folk-rock British group together since 1967, will play at Bodles Opera House in Chester on Friday, June 1. The band plays traditional folk, glam rock, heavy metal, new wave, and rock n roll, and has performed with Jethro Tull, Robert Plant, Art Garfunkel and Mary Chapin Carpenter. The band has had different members (including Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson, who just recently played with the band) since its inception at a small church. John Sebastian, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, will play Bodles on Saturday, June 2. Sebastian was a member of the now defunct Lovin’ Spoonful. His big hit was “Summer in the City.” He is a solo artist and songwriter who has scored films and TV shows, such as “Welcome Back, Kotter.” He performed at Woodstock and was a member of a band with Maria Muldaur and then with the Mugwumps, which included members of the Mamas and the Papas.
