Locals celebrate Valentine's Day

Couple: Bill Ognibene and Allison McCartney of Sparta, N.J. Wedding date, location: May 29, 2010, Newark Museum. Valentine's Day tradition: The entire family with a special meal and treats. "Allison was blessed with three amazing step-teens and Bixie the dog wonder when she married Bill."

Couple: Eric and Kim White of Glenwood, N.J. Wedding date, location: June 24, 2006, in Emerson, N.J. Valentine's Day tradition: A low-key meal at home, and we always get chocolate truffles!

Couple: Mark and Danielle Blazejewicz, of West Milford, N.J. Wedding date: June 9, 2012, at Black Bear Country Club in Franklin N.J. Valentine's Day tradition: Candle lit sushi dinner with wine and the pups at home.

Couple: John and Florbela Mendes of Andover, N.J. Wedding date, location: July 19, 1994, in a small town of Portugal. Valentine's Day tradition: We don't have an expensive tradition when it comes to Valentines day, my husband always buys me a plant for the garden so over the years I look around me in the summer and spring and all I see are my valentines. We have the same tradition for Mothers Day, as plants grow bigger and stronger so does our love. My husband is my favorite Valentine. "We dated for about a month in person and 10 months by mail. I lived in Hopatcong NJ and the groom lived in Portugal." The couple now has two children ages 15 and 10.

Couple: Pete and Joanna Arvidson of Hewiit N.J. Wedding date, location: March 14, 2010, at Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nev. Also married that same year in ceremony at Upper Greenwood Lake Club House. Valentine's Day tradition:

Couple: James Angelo Campistrous and Robert Keeney of Milford, Pa. Wedding date, location: March 25, 2011, at Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast, Milford, Pa. Valentine's Day tradition: Dinner on Feb. 13. "James and Bob were married in Connecticut on March 25 after 15 years of being together. When we told our families, they were very upset and wanted to know why we didnít have a ceremony and reception that they could attend. In October, we had a lovely ceremony and reception lakeside in a clear top tent and parquet floor at a local Milford B&B. When we are asked why we got married after being together all those years, our reply is ñ 'because now, we could.' "

Couple: Charmaine and John Fazio of West Milford, N.J. Wedding date, location: June 9, 2007, at Mayfair Farms in West Orange, N.J. Valentine's Day tradition: Our tradition started when we had kids. My husband brings home a dozen roses and my favorite coconut cluster chocolates. We share the chocolate and we use the petals from the roses to surround our kids (one 3 year old and now one newborn) and take a yearly valentines picture of them.

Couple: Donna and Scott Oliver of Milford, Pa. Wedding date, location: Oct. 15, 1993, at Disney World with the kids. Valentine's Day tradition: Always decorate for Valentines Day, so teddy bears and a big heart light up our front yard to give our neighbors a smile. We stay home have steak and a nice bottle of wine and buy a great big candy heart box of chocolates for my daughter.

Couple: Daniel and Cara Capela of Andover, N.J. Wedding date, location: Jan. 12, 2003, in Summit, N.J. Valentine's Day tradition: My wife's favorite color is purple so that became tradition when it comes to flowers. "Just celebrated our 10 Year Anniversary!"

Couple: Enrico and Barbara DiLello of Highland Mills. Wedding date, location: April 21, 1995, at Marina Del Rey in Bronx, N.Y. Valentine's Day tradition: Dinner with our children - but sometimes my sister-in-law will watch them so we can have a romantic dinner. My hubby always sends me beautiful roses.
