Local students to perform with BYO Symphony
Monroe The Bergen Youth Orchestra Symphony, directed by Eugene Minor of Woodcliff Lake, is devoted to the development of serious young musicians. The orchestra will perform their second concert of the season with “Concert 109” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Bergen Academies at 200 Hackensack Ave in Hackensack. The program will include: Offenbach’s “The Voyage to the Moon Overture” and “Ballet Music;” Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1, 3rd Movement,” with the winner of the inhouse concerto competition, violin soloist Samuel Katz of Leonia; and the U.S.A. premiere of Spohr’s “Symphony No. 8.” Violinist Maxwell Rudd of Oakland will be concert master. Local musicians, Sara Johnson and Jennifer Simons of Monroe, will perform during the concert. A $10 ticket donation is requested, and $5 for senior citizens and students.
