Local dancers participate in Kerry Dance feis
WARWICK-Kerry Dance, a local Irish dance school, recently held its annual school feis. Nearly 100 students from the Warwick and Central Valley locations participated in the event. Girls and boys ranging in ages 4 through 18 competed in solo dance categories to win medals and trophies. Awards were also given to the dancers with the highest overall scores in both the junior and senior divisions. This year Colleen Gleason and Shannon Gleason tied for the senior division winner, Lori McGovern was the junior division winner. The competion was held at the Sapphire School in Monroe. Kerry Dance students have been involved in many community activites this past year including Irish Day and the St. Patrick's Day parade in Goshen, the Irish Heritage Festival, and Applefest. They were also recently featured in a performance with Andy Cooney. The school's director, Kerry Gleason, is certified by An Coimisiun in Ireland to teach Irish dance. She is also a former Eastern US and World Champion dancer. The students of Kerry Dance will present Sham-rock', an evening of Irish dance, at the Lycian Centre in Sugar Loaf. The performance will be held on Saturday May 22nd at 5pm. Tickets are $12, general admission, and will be available at the door. For information on fall 04 registration, email kdny4206@hotmail.com.
