Warwick — You don’t have to eat lobster, nor do you have to buy a dinner ticket, to participate in Warwick’s first annual Lobsterpalooza and its festivities, hosted by Christ Church. This event, which features a lobster and chicken bake with all of the trimmings, a D.J., and live music provided throughout the day by local band “Test of Time,” also offers a full day of activities for children and adults alike. Lobsterpalooza is taking place on Saturday, June 16, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Quality of Life Building and park grounds off Kings Highway in Warwick. In addition to the lobster and chicken bake, the event will feature numerous food tents serving other delicious a la carte items, including hot dogs, cotton candy, beverages, ice cream, and popcorn. So if the kids don’t like lobster, they can find plenty of other eating options priced between $1 and $2 a piece while parents can eat lobster with all of the traditional sides. There will be games for adults and kids, face painting, and even a bouncy house. For the price of a $5 bracelet, children can jump in the bouncy house all day. Adults can try their luck at winning raffle prizes, donated from businesses around the community. Raffle tickets are one for $2 or 3 for $5, and prizes will be raffled off hourly. All of the money raised at Christ Church’s Lobsterpalooza will go to church ministries, which help support local charities including Warwick Meals-on-Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, St. Margaret’s Soup Kitchen, and Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry. Funds raised will also help finance a house-building mission trip to Juarez, Mexico, by 20 Warwick youth and their families, in late June. Tickets for the lobster or chicken dinners are $25 in advance or $35 on the day of the event. One does not need to purchase a dinner ticket in order to attend Lobsterpalooza and enjoy all of the activities, games and a la carte food items that will be offered. Lobsterpalooza is a rain or shine event, with both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking. For reservations and additional information, call the Lobsterpalooza hotline at 986-1774.
