Literacy Volunteers of Orange County offers fall workshop

    Port Jervis — The Literacy Volunteers of Western Orange County will offer its fall workshop in the Community Room of the Port Jervis Free Library at 138 Pike St. The fall tutor-training workshop includes a single two-hour orientation and 12 half-hour classes. Participants can choose between two orientation sessions—6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 or 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7. Scheduled class times are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 (breakfast and lunch served); 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 (lunch served); and 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21. Anyone considering becoming a trained English tutor this fall is urged to call the Literacy Volunteers at 341-5460 or e-mail baclvwoc@warwick.net by Oct. 4 to register, by giving your name, telephone number and mailing address. If you can read, you can teach someone else how to read.
