Literacy training workshops scheduled for April

    Middletown - Literacy Volunteers of Western Orange County will offer its spring tutor-training workshop in Southwinds at 70 Fulton St. in Middletown later this month. The spring workshop will train only basic-literacy tutors — those who will be teaching students that already understand and speak English. Attendance is required at one of the two orientation sessions to be held at Southwinds: Tuesday, April 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. or Saturday, April 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshop will be held Saturday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. Anyone considering becoming a trained English tutor is urged to call the Literacy Volunteers at 341-5460 or e-mail baclvwoc@warwick.net by April 19 to register, giving name, telephone number and postal mailing address.
