Literacy Orange plans horse show on Sept. 11

    Middletown — The Middletown Rotary Club will hold its 68th annual charity horse show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Fancher Davidge Park in Middletown. Proceeds will benefit Literacy Orange. Admission is free for all spectators. The event will include games, vendors, artists, giveaways and books. Children 12 and under can participate in a fishing contest for prizes from 9 a.m. to noon. Free Blueberry Mountain ice cream will be provided to all participants. The entry fee is $5. Sasha the therapy dog will demonstrate his tricks from 10 a.m. to noon. Children will learn how to pet and care for a dog. Bee Bee the clown will entertain from 1 to 3 p.m. Literacy Orange is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to raising the literacy rate in the community through one-to-one or small group adult tutoring. Financing comes from state grants, corporate and foundation grants, and personal contributions. Services are completely free to the students.
