Library will hold book sale as part of Cheese Festival
Friends of Library accepting donations now through Sept. 9 Monroe The Friends of the Monroe Free Library are accepting book donations in preparation for the group’s book sale, to be held Sept. 9 during the annual Monroe Cheese Festival. All types of books are welcome, with the following exceptions: no Reader’s Digest condensed books; no encyclopedias; no damaged or mildewed books; no textbooks; and no magazines or newspapers. Books will be accepted daily during library hours. Receipts for tax purposes will also be available upon request. “The local community has always been very generous with donating books,” said Maria Vazquez-Doles, Friends of the Monroe Free Library president. “Their donations serve a two-fold purpose: to help the Friends group raise money for important library plans and projects, and to allow people to add books to their personal collections at a nominal cost.” The Friends of the Monroe Free Library invite the public to join them at their next meeting. Meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m. at the Monroe Free Library. Among their goals are to influence the future development of the library, organize fundraising events and stimulate the use of the library through special programs. For additional information, or to make arrangements to drop off books, contact the Monroe Free Library at 783-4411.
