Warwick —The Albert Wisner Public Library will host author Susan Dworkin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Warwick Grove Neighborhood Center. Dworkin will discuss writing an “as told to” memoir. Dworkin spent many weeks with Holocaust survivor Edith Hahn Beer as her collaborator for the memoir, “The Nazi Officer’s Wife.” Through many hours of interviews Dworkin learned the story of this courageous woman and her amazing escape from the Holocaust forces. Together they created an international best seller which was eventually made into a motion picture. For those who enjoy reading memoirs or for anyone who would like to write a memoir, this program offers an opportunity to discuss the process with a successful author. Dworkin has written 14 books, many plays and articles for magazines. She was a contributing editor to Ms. Magazine, writing about the theater, movies and populist medicine. Dworkin teaches two courses, “The Art of Speechwriting” and “Autobiographical Writing” and lectures on the complex lives of contemporary women. Following the talk there will be a book signing with copies available for purchase. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required, to register call the library at 986-1047 ext. 3.
