Monroe —The Monroe Free Library is featuring a trip to Greece in May 2008 for less than half of its retail price. A seat on the eight-day trip, which includes a stay in Athens and a four-day cruise, costs $2499; the same trip, bought separately, would cost between five and seven thousand dollars. The ticket price includes all fees associated with the trip, starting from the moment travelers step onto a British Airways plane at Newark Airport. The group will visit world-historic sites like the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus, and will touch base on the islands of Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete. These sites are known both for their historical depth (Mykonos is the home of the Archeological Museum, housing marble sculptures from around the region) and for their dramatic nightlife (Mykonos also attracts world-famous DJs to its scores of nightclubs and bars). For sightseeing day trips, guests will ride in a modern motor coach, accompanied by an English-speaking tour guide. The first two days of the trip are scheduled in Athens, with plenty of time to see the sights; one day will be spent in Ephesus, Turkey, known for its beaches and attractive view of the Aegean Sea. The trip is being handled by Cruise Holidays of Orange County, a travel agency in Chester. Interested travelers should contact Catina Strauss at 783-4411.
