Warwick - Albert Wisner Pubic Library will offer a workshop in constructing a “Flag Book” on Friday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. “Flag books” help people organize vacation or family holiday photos and provide an unusual format to record thoughts, plans and memories. The workshop will provide the basic terms, skills and materials used to create hand-made books while constructing one of the most flag book. The workshop participant is also encouraged to explore broader issues of the book arts such as the choice of book structure, the demands of the book’s content and the power of books as instruments of culture. Above all we hope this workshop will create awareness of some of the mysteries, surprises and creativity unique to this familiar and ubiquitous object - the book. This workshop sponsored by the library is organized by artist and author Renie Garlick, who also is founder and director of the artist collaborative project, CrowKula. She is the owner of design studio specializing in logos, brochures and newsletters for small businesses and has presented numerous book arts workshops throughout the area.
