WARWICK — Albert Wisner Public Library cardholders now have digital access to thousands of movies, television shows, music and audiobooks through a new partnership with hoopla digital (hoopladigital.com).

Cardholders can now download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device or visit hoopladigital.com to begin enjoying thousands of titles – from major Hollywood studios, publishers and record companies – available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets, computers and Apple TV.

Laurie Angle, the library's reference librarian, said the new service connects patrons "to the materials they want in a format that meets their needs.... Patrons only need a library card to access this content on the hoopla app or Web site and all content is free of charge. It’s also digital so there is no waiting period for popular titles and hoopla’s automatic return means no late fees.”

Library Director Rosemary Cooper said Hoopla cost is based on downloads by users.

" The library pays based on the items our users borrow. The average cost is $1.99 per item, some are less, none are more than $2.40," Cooper said. "While there is generally no waiting for material, the library sets limits per user and per month overall for the library to manage costs which may result in some waiting depending on use. It is hard for us to say how popular this will be and we will be able to manage the limits based on use."
