WARWICK — Albert Wisner Public Library will host an interactive discussion of cardiac health with Dr. Gerard Freisinger on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Maintaining cardiac health applies to all adults and all age groups from young adults to senior citizens.

The program will include certified St. Anthony lab technicians to draw blood for those who would like to know their total and good cholesterol levels (no need to fast).

Also blood pressure measurements and fasting glucose levels will also be available for those who wish to participate. (Note that for a fasting blood sugar, one should not eat or drink anything but water for eight hours before a blood test.)

Those who know their recent fasting blood sugars and cholesterol profiles should bring their numbers to the program.

An online risk calculator will be discussed and analyzed by Freisinger. This calculator can determine 10- to 30-year risk of developing adverse cardiac events. Participants will have the opportunity to enter their data into the calculator and determine their cardiac risk.

Freisinger is a retired physician with close to 40 years of practicing primary care cardiology and directing the ICU and Non-Invasive lab at SACH in Warwick.

Registration is required to participate. Registration is available online at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org or by calling 986-1047 ext. 3.
