Library hosts ‘a musical conversation for four’

| 23 Oct 2013 | 09:36

WARWICK — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was a poet, philosopher and a contemporary of both Haydn and Mendelssohn, once described a string quartet as “four rational people conversing.”

On Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m., the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation will present the Hudson Valley String Quartet. The quartet - comprised of Tara Goozee (violin), Donna Kushner (violin), Piotr Kargul (viola) and Jeanne Fox (cello) - are residents of the Hudson Valley who have fused their love of the region with their love of music, dedicating themselves to performing and teaching locally to enhance the cultural climate of their communities.

The quartet will explores musical conversations through the ages and perform music by Franz Josef Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn, as well as the famed opera composer Giacomo Puccini.

Join us to eavesdrop in the Austrian Courts, mourn a tragic Italian Prince and get swept away in a Russian Romance.

This concert is sponsored by the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation with a generous contribution for the performance by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Neuman.

To register to attend, visit the library’s Web site at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org or call 986-1047 ext. 3.
