Library foundation hosts book launch party

Warwick - The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation celebrated the publication of “Rangers at Dieppe” with a Book Launch Party at the Landmark Inn on Tuesday, Jan. 29. This event was sponsored by a grant from WVT communications of Warwick. Christine Stage chaired the event. In attendance were several governors of the foundation including Donna Applegate, Dolores Simon, Terry Quint and Patrick Gallagher and their invited guests. Author and Warwick resident Jim DeFelice presented an entertaining and informative slide show about his research for his book. He emphasized the importance of libraries in his research of 1942 Raid at Dieppe. This research uncovered the story of the 50 United States Rangers who volunteered for this duty and took part as the first American fighting forces in Europe in World War II. The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation was established in October of 2005. Its mission is to provide private financial support to supplement public support for the Albert Wisner Public Library, enhancing opportunities for the library’s continued growth and service to the entire community. Currently the foundation is soliciting donations for their “Expanding Possibilities” capital campaign. Goals here include an expanded opening day collection of books, books on CD, DVDs and magazines; additional computers with Internet access for adults, teens and children; equipment for computer education; and museum-quality display cabinets for Warwick artifacts. The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation is a not-for-profit 501c(3) organization and gifts to the foundation are tax deductible.
