Warwick - The Albert Wisner Public Library will celebrate national poetry month this April with a book party to celebrate the release of a new collection of poems by Paul Kane at the Applewood Winery in Warwick on Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Kane, a long-time resident of Warwick, will read from his new book, “Work Life,” published by Turtle Point Press in New York. A book signing with a wine and cheese tasting will follow the author’s reading and talk. This is an opportunity to hear poetry in the poet’s voice and learn about the art of writing poetry. The event is $8 per person. Proceeds will be donated to the Library Foundation’s Capital Campaign. Kane has published ten books, including three collections of poems, and has been hailed by critics in the U.S. and abroad as “a central poet of his generation.” Frequently compared to Robert Frost, he writes poems described as elegant, haunting, skilled and pleasurable, bespeaking a wholeness of life. Kane’s awards include fellowships from the Fulbright, Guggenheim and Mellon Foundations and from the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is a professor of English at Vassar College. Registration is required. Call 986-1047 ext. 3.
