LGBTQ Center of the Warwick Valley announces Pride Weekend

WARWICK — The LGBTQ Center of the Warwick Valley, a new initiative that seeks to build community among the LGBTQA people of Warwick and the surrounding areas, has announced the schedule for its upcoming Pride Weekend, which will be highlighted by a fashion show fund raiser on Friday, June 7.

The Pride Weekend schedule includes:

Fashion show and mocktail hour at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 7 (tickets required).

Family hike at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 (free).

Workshops and speaker series at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 (free).

All LGBTQ Center events are open to the community.

The fashion show fund raiser, to be held at the Warwick Valley Community Center and presented by Style Counsel/blue and South Hudson Models, will be followed by a “mocktail hour” featuring cuisine from local restaurants.

Any businesses or restaurants willing to donate goods or services for Pride Weekend will be recognized as Founding Partners in Pride. Founding Partners will receive recognition and promotion on the LGBTQ Center’s web site, Facebook page and the Pride Weekend 2013 commemorative journal.

The deadline for journal inclusion is Monday, May 20.

In addition, the LGBTQ Center of the Warwick Valley is actively seeking volunteers, workshop facilitators and speakers for Pride Weekend 2013.

Early bird tickets for the fashion show and “mocktail hour” fund raiser are currently available for purchase; ticket prices will increase on Friday, May 24.

Founded after a conversation between friends in late February of 2013, the Warwick Valley LGBTQ Center seeks to build community among the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning and Allied (LGBTQA) people of Warwick and the surrounding areas. It is welcoming of all.
