Leos offer The Screamin' Sirens Music Showcase' for high school students
FLORIDA The Florida Spartan Leo Club will host The Screamin’ Sirens Music Showcase’ exclusively for high school students from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at the firehouse in Florida. The members of the Leo Club will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Noah (the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation), and to the March of Dimes. Up to ten local bands will be performing, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Identification will be required, and admission is $10 at the door. At a meeting early this year, the Florida Leo Club expressed an interest in hosting an event for local high school students. “We want to do something that will help the community. We would like it to be an event that also gives us a place to go, and something to do,” said one of the members. They decided to host a music event. With the event selected, the students quickly got involved in the preliminary event planning. The date was selected, providing the students time to plan, and yet not interfering with final exams. The Florida Fire Commissioners were contacted, and the students received the approval they needed. The band showcase committee co-chairs contacted the local bands. The Florida Lions Club obtained lighting and sound system setup donations. Assistance, such as chaperoning, food and drink donations, and logistical support is sought. To offer assistance, call 651-2250 or 651-7272.
