Latin-American art, politics to be discussed

Middletown —The Lyceum Lecture Series will host Visual Arts and Politics in Latin America: the 20s, 30s and the 60s at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. The slide presentation will be led by Alejandro Anreus, Ph.D, professor of art history and Latin American studies at William Paterson University. The slides will cover the Mexican muralists: Rivera, Orozco, and Siqueiros, and discuss the politics of Frida Kahlo, Antonio Berni, Carlos Enríquez, Marcelo Pogolotti, Jacobo Borges and others. The presentation is being held as part of the celebration of Latin American Heritage Month at SUNY Orange and is sponsored by Global Initiative. The presentation will be at at Orange County Community College at the Harriman Hall 111 Film Theatre located at the corner of Wawayanda and East Conklin Avenues in Middletown.
