Last market to be a spooky affair

Goshen It’s time to say goodbye to the Goshen Farmers’ Market with a nice spooky send-off planned for its final day. Today Friday, Oct. 27 the band Mighty Girl will kick things off with live music at the monument in Village Square from noon to 2 p.m. This eclectic trio Lena Fahringer, (vocals, guitar), Bill Fahringer (drums, vocals), and Bob Torsello (bass vocals) has performed often at local venues, including Woodstock ’94. Other festivities include a pumpkin carving demonstration by Kasha Bialas of Bialas Farms at 2:30 p.m.; guess-the-weight and win-the-biggest-pumpkin contest (pumpkin donated by S&O Produce), with the winner announced at 3:30 p.m.; and a grand finale costume parade (not a contest) around the monument at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come down in costume, trick or treat from the vendors, and then follow the Pumpkin Trail into town. Merchants displaying a smiling pumpkin will host trick or treaters all day Friday and on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Goshen Chamber of Commerce sponsors the farmers’ market, held every year from May through October. For more information, call the chamber office at 294-7741.
