Knox's Headquarters opens for season

New Windsor —On May 26, Knox’s Headquarters, in New Windsor, opens for the season, through Labor Day. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Available tours include the 1754 Ellison mansion that served as headquarters to three of Washington’s top generals, walking trails, and the ruins of the Ellison’s 1741 grist mill overlooking the Silver Stream gorge. On June 3, at the adjacent New Windsor Cantonment, there will be a Children’s Day and Bagpipe Concert from 1 to 4:30 p.m., celebrating the Hudson Valley past and present. The Two By Two Zoo, Robert Rogers Puppet Theater and MacLeod’s of Cornwall Pipe and Drum Band will be featured, along with 18th century games. Historic-style toys will be for sale, plus there will be hands-on activities and readings for young visitors to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Programs and dates are subject to change.
