Kids' art programs at Museum Village

    Monroe — Three week-long Children’s Art Programs will be offered in the summer at Museum Village, led by artist Karen Consalvo Chereck. The first program, “Fun with Clay,” will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. for children ages six to eight, and from 1 to 3 p.m. for children ages nine to twelve, Monday to Friday, June 26 to 30. The students will create characters, creatures or sculpture, using imagination and free expression. Students will be shown a variety of sculpting techniques. Several projects will be completed during the program. Chereck will also offer “Kid’s Drawing & Painting” from 9 to 11 a.m. for children ages six to eight, and from 1 to 3 p.m. for children ages nine to twelve, during the week of July 17 to 21; and “Drawing for Young Adults” for youth ages 13 and up, from July 24 to 28. The cost is $75 per child. Registration is required. Supplies are required and are not included in the fee; a list of the required supplies will be provided at time of registration. For more information, call Chereck at 469-9760. Chereck has a bachelor of arts in studio art from SUNY Oneonta, and a masters of science in art education from SUNY New Paltz. She is a New York State Certified Public School Teacher, and a member of the National Art Education Association. She is also a working artist in pen and ink, acrylics, colored pencil, and watercolor, who does florals, landscapes, abstract paintings and drawings in charcoal and pencil. Museum Village is one of New York State’s largest living history museums. The museum is four miles west of New York State Thruway Exit 16 at Harriman, and directly off Route 17’s Exit 129 via Museum Village Road.
