Karla Armstrong in concert on April 26

Karla Armstrong will give a bluegrass, sacred music concert Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at Pine Island Bible Church in Warwick. Armstrong is not a “paper-trained” musician, but plays by ear. In addition to chromatic and diatonic autoharp, she also plays the bowed psaltery, the hammered dulcimer, the mountain dulcimer, and its hybrid cousin, the banjimer. She has made a gospel recording featuring some of these instruments titled, “Resonance: Songs for the Soul,” and most recently, a bluegrass gospel vocal recording titled, “Karla & Sons: Let Me Tell You About Jesus.” For the past eight years, she has co-authored “Colorfully Chromatic,” a column featuring challenging autoharp arrangements in the “Autoharp Quarterly.” For more information, visit www.upontheharp.com
