Junior League to hold Whale of a Sale'
Middletown The Junior League of Orange County (JLOC) will be holding their signature “Whale of a Sale” event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Middletown. Over 20 years ago the “Whale” was considered a staple for JLOC in the Orange County community. The Whale was revived last year and had fantastic success. The “Whale” is one part yard sale, one part consignment shop. Items are donated by the group’s members and sold at yard sale prices. The sale will have great deals on gently-used quality items, including clothing for men, women and children as well as housewares. The bag sale portion of the day, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., will allow shoppers to purchase a bag for $5 and walk away with whatever the bag can hold. “The JLOC continues its mission to promote volunteerism among women, as they work together with community partners to build better communities. Their main focus recently has been to advocate for and to provide ways to develop and improve children’s health and wellness. The Whale of a Sale is one of the fund raisers sponsored by the Junior League to ensure that these programs flourish.”commented Junior League president, Mary Ann Marrero.
