Warwick - Jubilate: The Community Youth Choir of Warwick will host auditions for young singers between grades 5 and 12 on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Christ Church in Warwick. Jubilate is in the middle of a highly successful second season. The group has maintained a busy and varied performance schedule this fall, solidifying its reputation for musical excellence. This season, Jubilate has brought its unique repertoire and sound to performances at local churches and synagogues, historical venues, like Warwick’s Old School Meeting House, and community celebrations, such as Bellvale’s Empty Bowls charity event. The Jubilate program is an extraordinary opportunity for talented young singers to learn the fine art of choral singing. The educational program encompasses ear training and music theory, along with voice training and numerous performance opportunities, led by Dr. David Crone, who is presently the chair of vocal music at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He is assisted by Steven Wing, who conducts middle school choir in the Monroe-Woodbury District. Jubilate has nearly two dozen girls and boys, with a reputation as one of the finest treble choirs in the region. The group seeks young people who have a love of singing and performing and who possess vocal talent. Previous performance experience or voice lessons are not a requirement for audition. Vocal talent is the priority. A commitment to weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals during the school year, and an ability to participate fully in all scheduled performances are requirements for membership in Jubilate. Interested singers should visit the group’s Web site at www.jubilatewarwick.com for more information. To schedule an audition time for Jan. 12, call Choir Manager Annie Barker at 987-2418.
