FLORIDA — Sports Fitness and Fun will host a jazz and hip hop fusion class on Saturday, March 1 at 9 a.m. The class will be taught by Victor-Pierre Melendez, who began his training in Montvale, N.J., performing lead roles in “The Wiz” and “West Side Story.” From there he traveled to Tampa, Fla., where he became a principle dancer in the University of Tampa’s “Dance Expressions” company. While Victor-Pierre’s training is primarily in east coast Latin ballroom, the fusion of hip hop and jazz into his choreography has gained him recognition as a cutting edge choreographer in the Hudson Valley area. Now as the Latin instructor at the Center for Creative Education in Kingston, Victor-Pierre fuses the funk, hip-hop flavor of Drew and Nikki Andrews with the Caribbean and Latin styling of salsa and Latin dance from many cultures. Fee is $15 for members; and $25 for non-members. Call 651-1000.
