Tuxedo Park — Vocalist Alexis Cole brings her unique style of intimate jazz vocals to the Tuxedo Park Library at 1:30 p.m. this Sunday, Nov. 20. Her repertoire includes jazz standards from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald as well as modern popular songs. “Someday My Prince Will Come is a great reminder of the timelessness of these songs and also a testament to Cole’s talent,” a reviewer for All About Jazz Online in April 2010. “The New York-born vocalist makes each song her own.” In addition to traditional jazz improvisation, Cole also incorporates Indian vocal improvisations and plays the tampura which she studied in Mumbai. She will discuss her experience there, as well as outline the broad differences between Western and Eastern musical traditions. The program is free but seating is limited. Call the Library at 845-351-2207 to register.
