Warwick — The specialty book store, Baby Grand Books in Warwick, will host a jazz duo performance from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. The live performance will feature pianist Richard Kimball and guitarist Mike Jackson, respected jazz musicians in the Hudson Valley. Kimball is a seasoned pianist with an extensive career as a performer, teacher and composer and has produced two CD’s bearing his name. He has played regularly at venues throughout the tri-state area. On guitar, Jackson has played with some of the top rhythm and blues groups of the 1960’s and 1970’s and has since moved to playing jazz. In 2000 he produced his own jazz CD that includes standards and original compositions. George Nitti, proprietor of Baby Grand Books, sensed an opportunity when he heard both performers play at separate venues. He approached the musicians with the idea of the playing a duo at his shop. He discovered Kimball and Jackson had played together a number of times over the years but never as a duo in a concert setting. The performers had mutual respect for each other’s work and agreed to perform together and present a program for the community. The performance is free and seating is limited. For information and reservations contact Baby Grand Books at 986-6165.
