Irish Music in America at Albert Wisner Library on March 8

WARWICK — In the "olde days" in Ireland, music was written and performed using traditional instruments like the fiddle and tin whistle.
Emigrants from Ireland brought these instruments and repertoire to the United States, giving rise to what we know as Irish American folk music.
On Friday evening, March 8, at 7 p.m., the Albert Wisner Public Library will present Irish Music in America.
Join Barry Wiesenfeld, Brian Conway and Tim Harte as they take you on a musical journey from Ireland to the New World:
    • Conway a premier Irish-American fiddler, performs with a skill, grace and force that are steeped in tradition but distinctively his own. Well known in the Irish/Celtic community, Conway has won numerous All-Ireland fiddling competitions, and has been called one of the best fiddlers of his generation. Nothing is missed or missing in Conway's Sligo-style fiddling.
    • Wiesenfeld has performed on bass, flute and vocals in Irish concerts both here and in Ireland. He has accompanied or shared the stage with The Chieftains, Tommy Makem, Carl Corcoran, James Keane and many others.
    • Harte is an acoustic guitarist and vocalist. He was raised on ditties sung by his dad and has been performing those ditties and more for decades at more than 100 venues throughout the tri-state area.
