India bazaar to raise funds

Monroe —There will be a sale of pre-owned fashion items from India starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Blue Sky Center of the Ananda Ashram in Monroe. Items (some gently used and some new) from India include saris, Punjabi dresses, and jewelry at bargain prices as low as $1. Proceeds from the bazaar will benefit the DVD production of the Shri Ramamurti Ramayana Dance Drama filmed on July 29. Meditation will begin at 7 p.m. and the Krishna Leela Dance Drama, presented by the East-West School of Dance, will begin at 8:30 p.m. The dance drama, featuring scenes from the life of Krishna, is directed and choreographed by Pandit S.N. Charka in the Kathak style of North India. General admission is $15. Members, $12. Family rates are available. The Blue Sky Center at the Ananda Ashram is located at 13 Sapphire Road, Monroe.
