Illustrious Theatre to host fundraiser

WARWICK The Illustrious Theatre Company will be hosting “An Illustrious Revel,” to benefit its Shakespeare in the Orchard series on Saturday, March 25, at the Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery. The company is now in its fourth theatre season. The gala will feature the epicurean delights of Michael DeMartino and Katherine Grizzanti, the chefs of the new restaurant which will be opening at the winery. As part of the Renaissance theme of the evening, a string ensemble from Vernon Township High School will provide entertainment, and guests will have the option to dress in contemporary clothing or Elizabethan garb. The honorary chairman of the revel will be Ira Levin, the playwright and author best known for “Rosemary’s Baby,” “Deathtrap,” and “The Steppford Wives.” Earlier this year, Levin made a surprise visit to the winery for the production of his play “Veronica’s Room.” The executive committee of the revel include Orange County Executive Edward Diana, Warwick Village Mayor Michael Newhard, Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton, and business leaders Rosita Gilsenan, Joanne Graney, George Laurence, and Liz Reese. The planning committee includes Jenna Field, Dr. Joseph Grizzanti, artistic director Mary Clifford, and others from the company. Tickets are $50 in advance, or $60 at the door. Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit this summer’s production of “Romeo & Juliet.” For more information, write to theitc@warwick.net or call 973-764-4936.
