Illustrious Theatre Co. is now indoors

SUGAR LOAF This summer The Illustrious Theatre Company is presenting its annual outdoor production of one of Shakespeares most popular works, A Midsummer Nights Dream, at the Lycian Center in Sugar Loaf. While the company is hoping for starlit evenings for its performances, this year in the case of rain, the show will move indoors to the intimate Pavilion Theatre. The show, under the direction of the companys artistic director Mary Clifford, has been fully rehearsed outdoors and indoors.
See the show The show continues this weekend, Friday, July 27, Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Picnics are welcome. Audience members should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors and are available online at: www.theillustrioustheatre.org or at the gate the night of the show. The play has been staged to make almost full use of the Great Lawn at the Lycian with the green grass as the stage and the pond, trees, moon stars and sky as the backdrop. A Midsummer Nights Dream is a magical, romantic comedy in which four plots are interwoven exploring the madness that love can inspire in everyone. Royalty, two pairs of young lovers, six bumbling tradesmen and spirits of the fairy kingdom are all bewitched beneath the moon by Cupids swift arrow.
