Hudson Valley Polonaise Society announces plans for upcoming events

Pine Island - Here is a schedule of upcoming programs and events sponsored by the Hudson Valley Polonaise Society: • The society is offering free classes for polka, oberek and Polish figure dances at the Polish Legion of American Veterans in Pine Island every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., ending on May 14. For more information, call Richie at 258-4721, or Hilda at 294-9254. • The New Jersey polka band, “The GB’s,” will appear at the Polish Legion of American Veterans Hall on Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is $12 and children under the age of 16, accompanied by an adult, are free. To make a reservation or to purchase tickets, call Stella at 291-8707. • The society will offer a $500 and $1,000 scholarship to graduating high school seniors of Polish descent. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of participant’s essay and individual contributions to school and community.
