Hudson Valley Jazz Festival presents The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra
The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival celebrates it's fifth season, Aug. 14 to 17.
The series which takes place in several towns in the greater Hudson Valley features local talent along side Grammy winning and nationally recognized jazz names. Past artists include Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Bill Evans, Mark Egan, Arturo O'Farrill, Bobby Sanabria and Adam Nussbaum.
This year's feature show, is The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra of NYC's famed Village Vanguard. This 17 piece jazz ensemble, formerly The Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra, has been a fixture on Monday nights for decades at this landmark jazz club. The concert is Saturday Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. at the lower Hudson Valley's, premier venue, The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center in Sugar Loaf. Tickets are $25.

Warwick local guitarist Jeff Ciampa, drummer Karl Latham with Pete Levin and Joel Frahm(Landmark Inn Thursday, Aug. 14. at 7 p.m.) and trumpet player Chris Persad(The Dautaj, Friday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m.), both in Warwick.
Pine Island's Chamber of Commerce in Pine Island Park features saxophonist Eric Person.
