Hudson Valley Jazz Festival kicks off Thursday
WARWICK — Next week kicks off the 2013 Hudson Valley Jazz Festival with many events throughout the four days being held in Warwick, Sugar Loaf, Greenwood Lake and other nearby towns.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 8, with "Music in the Courtyard," outdoors on Railroad Ave. in the Village of Warwick with David Crone Trio at 5:30 p.m. and John Ehlis at 9:30 p.m. The Albert Wisner Public Library is presenting Jonaitis and Newcomb at 6 p.m.
The Village of Warwick is hosting Jeff Ciampa, Mark Egan, Terry Silverlight and David Mann at 7 p.m. on the Village Green on Railroad Ave.
And they're just the local venues on the opening day.
The festival is presenting many local artists in a variety of venues. This is the fourth year for the festival. Venues for this year include Sugar Loaf, Warwick Marlboro, Peekskill, Montgomery and Hastings on Hudson.
From jazz improv to modern jazz, standards, jazz vocalists, duos, trios, sextets, fusion, funky jazz and world music, this year's festival will present new artists and returning favorites along side some jazz legends. Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Steve Swallow, Adam Nussbaum, Mark Egan, Jeff Ciampa, Bucky Pizzarelli and David Finck are players many may know.
There are events from Thursday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 11. Grab a chair and come out for some terrific jazz.
