Hudson Valley Jazz Festival kicks off Thursday

— Next week kicks off the 2013 Hudson Valley Jazz Festival with many events throughout the four days being held locally.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 8, with “Music in the Courtyard,” outdoors on Railroad Avenue in the Village of Warwick with David Crone Trio at 5:30 p.m. and John Ehlis at 9:30 p.m. The Albert Wisner Public Library is presenting Jonaitis and Newcomb at 6 p.m. The Village of Warwick is hosting Jeff Ciampa, Mark Egan, Terry Silverlight and David Mann at 7 p.m. on the Village Green on Railroad Avenue.

And they’re just the local venues on the opening day.

The festival is presenting many local artists in a variety of venues. This is the fourth year for the festival. Venues for this year include Sugar Loaf, Warwick Marlboro, Peekskill, Montgomery and Hastings on Hudson.

There are events from Thursday, through Sunday, Aug. 11. Grab a chair and come out for some terrific jazz.

Saturday Aug. 10

The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center presents The Dave Liebman Group 8 p.m.; includes lifetime achievement award ceremony for Richard Kimball.
