Newburgh — The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will celebrating the “First Families for the Environment” at a champagne brunch at the Powelton Club in Newburgh on Sunday, Nov. 13, at noon. The event will honor the Reese family, represented by Alex Reese and Alison Spear Beginning with the legendary Franny Reese, whose tireless crusade to protect Storm King Mountain marked the start of modern grass roots environmentalism, the Reese family has been at the forefront of the effort to protect the Hudson Valley for nearly 50 years. This mid-day celebration will combine friends, food and drinks with placing silent bids on fabulous goods and services. One-of-a-kind items will be available at a silent auction to benefit the museum’s environmental education programs. Items include warm weather destinations, VIP tours, fine wine, dining opportunities, art and much more, all donated by Hudson Valley merchants and museum friends.
