West Point —The Eisenhower Hall Theatre will present Hootie and the Blowfish at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, as the band tours in support of their latest album, Looking for Lucky, the first release on their independent record label. Known for their bluesy vocals, gleeful harmonies and infectious melodies, the multi-platinum quartet are one of the most successful adult contemporary groups to emerge from the mid-'90s. From the first single, “One Love,” which tips its hat to Bob Marley’s vision of a world that cherishes love over anger, to the funky song “Hey Sister Pretty” to the progressive bluegrass tribute of “Leaving,” the album is stylistically diverse. “This is the best feeling we’ve had in the studio since we were recording Cracked Rear View,” says guitarist Mark Bryan. “We went in and nailed all 12 tracks. Don kept us on track with his fine ear and clear vision.” Formed during the late '80s at the University of South Carolina, their heartfelt sound made a huge impact on the local frat parties and dive bar circuit. After word spread about their live shows, the band signed to Atlantic Records and released Cracked Rear View in 1994. Tickets are priced at $42 and may be purchased at the Eisenhower Hall Box Office, online at www.ikehall.com or via telelcharge at 1-800-233-3123.
