Holy Myrrhbearers to perform at West Point

    West Point — West Point’s Department of Foreign Languages will present a formal concert featuring The Holy Myrrhbearers Women’s Choir, on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cadet Chapel. The Holy Myrrhbearers Women’s Choir was formed in 1998 at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Virgin Protection in Nyack. The choir was created for and by Russian Orthodox women who shared a deep feeling for Slavonic liturgical music and who were already singing at Divine Services whenever possible. Since its founding, the group continues to sing on every feast day of the Holy Myrrhbearers, which is celebrated every year on the second Sunday following Holy Pascha (Easter), and occasionally on other feast days.
