Holocaust survivor to lecture at Temple Beth Shalom
Florida Holocaust survivor and Monroe resident Dr. Paula Neyman will speak at Temple Beth Shalom in Florida at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19. Born in Poland, Neyman says she lived a life of luxury as a youth. That all ended after Hitler’s invasion of her country. During World War II, she spent her life in slavery in several concentration camps. After liberation, Neyman immigrated to the United States, at age 19. Ambitious, she worked and went to college at night and then to medical school, ultimately becoming a full professor, at Einstein Medical College in New York City, a pediatrician and a mother of two. Neyman, who has spoken to congregations around the region about her Holocaust experiences, says she sees her life as consisting of three journeys, which she will share her via her thoughts, reminiscences and memories. The public is invited to attend her talk, in observance of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance), at Temple Beth Shalom, 13 Roosevelt Ave., Florida. Following her talk, there will be a question-and-answer period; cake and coffee will be served. For more information, call 651-7817.
