Holiday week: Meet the animals on the boulevard

Cornwall From Wednesday through Sunday of the Holiday week between Christmas and New Years, all ages are welcome when the Museum of the Hudson Highlands presents “Meet the Animals on the Boulevard” at its Boulevard location. Bring along family and friends to meet some of the fascinating animals that live at the museum such as the opossum, American crow, black rat snake, house mouse and the American toad. A different animal will be featured each day. Come learn where these animals get their name, what kinds of food they eat, and how they adapt to winter. “Meet the Animals on the Boulevard” will be presented at 2:30 p.m., Dec. 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 at the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, Cornwall-on-Hudson. General open hours are: noon until 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Current exhibits are: the “Hall of Live Animals of the Highlands,” a permanent exhibit including live animals from our area; and “Symbols of New York,” an interactive exhibit that introduces the New York State Bird, Mammal, Insect and others. Recently added is the new New York State reptile: the snapping turtle. A special craft will be available during this holiday Meet the Animals week. If the weather is good, plan to hike the short “family-friendly” trails. Meet the Animals is presented throughout the year on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. A different animal is featured each week. General Admission is $3 for ages 2 and older, free for Museum members.
