Holiday Tea with the Sugarplum Fairy

Warwick - The Warwick Ballet Theater is rehearsing new choreography in a new venue at the Blackbox Theatre for a fresh interpretation of the Nutcracker Suite. Children in the audience will be encouraged to experience the traditional ballet as “Clara and Fritz,” the story’s main characters, who meet the Sugarplum Fairy in The Land of Sweets. Many of the children will be enticed to dance on stage with Sugarplum at the conclusion of the ballet. The Warwick Ballet Theater guild has created refreshments which correspond to those in Act 2 such as Chinese tea, Arabian coffee, gingerbread, peppermint candy, marzipan and Spanish chocolate. They will ready for purchase and to enjoy as the audience watches “sweets” coming to life. Tickets can be ordered by calling the Dancer’s Studio at 986-2466 as there is limited seating for each performance. Open dates are: Friday, Dec. 15, at 5 and 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2, 5 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 and 5 p.m. All performances held at the Blackbox Theatre on Wheeler Avenue in Warwick.
