Holiday fun for kids at Harness Museum

| 15 Feb 2012 | 10:19

Goshen — Once upon a time, people travelled by sleigh in winter, and everyone could hear the sleigh bells making merry music as their horses pranced through the snow. The Harness Racing Museum in Goshen invites children ages 3 to 11 to make a miniature version of this magical moment to decorate their trees. The museum's "jingle horse" craft workshop will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 10. Supplies will be provided, including small wooden horses, yarn, ribbon, magic markers and a jingle bell. Next, participants can have their family photo taken in the museum's authentic antique one-horse open sleigh with the mascot, Hall of Fame Harry, dressed in his finest Santa hat and vest. Museum staff will then lead a "horsey holiday museum scavenger hunt game," and everyone can catch a ride on the museum's 3-D Harness Racing Simulator. The museum is located at 240 Main St. in Goshen, and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 294-6330, e-mail education@harnessmuseum.com, or visit www.harnessmuseum.com.
