Historical Society seeks volunteer docents

    Warwick - The Warwick Historical Society needs volunteers to act as docents (or tour guides) for the society’s museums during the summer months. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend a workshop at the education center at Baird’s Tavern, 105 Main St. across from the post office on Tuesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The museums n Baird’s Tavern, 1810 House, the Shingle House, and the Old School Baptist Meeting House n will be open every Tuesday and Saturday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. starting July 1. Each building will be assigned a seasoned docent as well as one or two newcomers, depending on the needs of the building. Ivy Tulin and Elizabeth Hurd, co-chairs of the Historical Society’s education committee, stressed that volunteers do not have to be history experts or members of he Society to be trained as docents. “All interested people between the ages of 12 and still breathing” are welcome to the June 12 session, according to the director, Sybil H.
