Historical society plans annual awards dinner

    WARWICK — The Historical Society of the Town of Warwick will kick off its Centennial Year Celebration during the annual meeting and membership dinner at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, at the Warwick Valley Country Club on Oakland Ave. Highlights of the dinner will include the presentation of the Elizabeth Sanford Lewis and Madison Lewis Award, in the form of a Centennial Bowl, to this year’s recipients, Mary W. Bradner and Dorothy A. “Deeps” Sanford. Music will be provided by Synergy 4. The event will be catered by the House of Edward Fava, and there will be a cash bar. Members of the historical society may purchase tickets for $35 per person at Baird’s Tavern on Main St. To join the society, visit Baird’s or www.warwickhistoricalsociety.org. Other events planned for the centennial celebration include: On Sunday, May 21, “100 Years of Fashion” will be held at the Old School Baptist Meeting House and Bairds Tavern on Main St. in Warwick. On Sunday, June 4, a “Wine and Cheese Tasting Party” will be held at Lewis Park on Main St. in Warwick. On Saturday, June 24, Friends of the Historical Society will host a Garden Party at the 1810 House and Herb Wheel Garden on Main St. in Warwick. On Saturday, July 29, there will be a “George Washington Day Community Parade” and a “Lost Arts Festival and Picnic” at Lewis Park on Main St. in Warwick. On Saturday, August 26, an “Under the Tent Preservation Party” will be held at Lewis Park on Main Street in Warwick. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18 and 19, the society will hold its annual “Harvest to Holly Tour” of buildings in the Village of Warwick.
