On Sunday, June 10, Dr. Robert Schmick, the executive director of the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick, offered a blacksmithing demonstration at the Warwick Farmer’s Market in the South Street parking lot. Schmick built a coal fire in a later 19th century Buffalo forge. He heated both wrought iron and steel during the course of the day and completed several projects. Blacksmithing and other basic crafts essential to the daily lives of our forefathers will also be taught at the Society’s Summer History Day Camp for ages 8 to 11 scheduled for Aug. 6-10.
