— The Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, in cooperation with the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House Museums, will host its annual holiday opening on the weekends of Dec. 7 and 8 and Dec. 14 and 15. Saturday hours are 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday hours are noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 per child and $3 per adult.

Holiday visitors to Hill Hold, the 1769 homestead of Thomas Bull, will be greeted by the festive decorations adorning the home and the grounds. The event will give visitors the spirit of the holiday season.

The entrance hall will greet visitors with the smell of fresh evergreens. The holiday tree will grace the parlor with a collection of antique ornaments and a vast array of old fashioned toys. A small tabletop tree will be displayed in the upstairs bedroom and volunteers will be in the workroom busily creating old fashioned crafts.

Hill Hold’s Goosetown School will offer an opportunity for children to make an ornament and learn all about one room schools. Cider, cookies and story time will be offered in the basement kitchen. To complete the visit, jolly old St. Nick will be greeting visitors and posing for pictures with children of all ages.

Special events are co-sponsored by the Friends of Hill-Hold and Brick House and the Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Hill-Hold Museum is located on Route 416 between Goshen and Montgomery.
