Have a honey of a time

Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival and Artisan Market will return to Museum Village in Monroe on Sunday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers said attendees will “celebrate the life and work of the honeybee” with tastings and sales of a wide variety of local, regional and international honeys, as well as baked goods, specialty foods, cheeses, ready-to-eat foods, teas and local craft beverages.
Crafts by local artists will also be available for sale.
In total, more than 60 vendors are expected to participate.
Admission includes:
• Access to all of Museum Village's exhibits including the Blacksmith Shop, General Store, Barn, Apothecary, Log Cabin, One-Room School House, Candle Shop, Print Shop, Farm Tools Building, Fire Fighting Display, Natural Sciences Center and Energy Building.
• Demonstrations of 19th-Century life by costumed guides.
• Live music and country line dancing on The Village Green.
• Free rides on a horse-drawn Conestoga covered wagon (weather permitting).
• Meet Museum Village's farm animals, observe its bee hive and visit "Prince Harry," one of the three most complete mastodon skeletons in the world.
• Free face-painting and games (potato sack aces, hula hoops, bean bag toss, etc.) and craft activities for children.
• Plant bee-friendly seeds (to take home) led by 4-H/Cornell Cooperative Extension.
• Meet farm animals from TevaLand Farm Animal Rescue.
• Watch plein air painting by local artists.
• Take a picture in the “American Gothic” Painting.
Tickets
Tickets for Sweet Bee’s Honey Festival can be purchased online for $15/adult and $10/child (ages 4 to 12). At the door, tickets are $20/adult and $15/child (age 4 to 12).
Children under 4 years of age are free at Museum Village.
A special online-only VIP ticket is available for $30 each and includes a deluxe Honey Festival tote bag (a $10 value), a VIP badge, a Museum Village memento and a guided tour by Executive Director Michael Sosler at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
A discounted “Late Day” ticket is available online only for just $10/person for all ages (age 4 and up) for admission after 3 p.m. At the door, the LATE Day special ticket is $15/person for all ages for admission after 3 p.m.
Besides raising money to support the preservation and educational missions of Museum Village, Sweet Bee's Honey Festival has partnered with Open Arms, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to combating the very serious problem of addiction in Orange and Rockland counties through local programs and recovery centers.
