Middletown — The curtain will go up for “Hats Off to Barbershop” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, when Hudson Harmony of Sweet Adelines International will present it’s annual show at the Paramount Theater. According to director Brenda Crawford, the musical is a tribute to all women; friends and lovers, wives and mothers, all done in the four part a cappella style unique to barbershop. Crawford, a director with Sweet Adelines for 30 years, will lead the group through “Razzle Dazzle,” “You Are My Sunshine,” “Nine to Five,” “My Romance,” and many more. Featured in the show will be two quartets, the award-winning “Northern Comfort” from Hudson Harmony’s own ranks, and “The Majestics” from the Westchester Chordsmen Chorus. Local residents involved in the chorus include Bev Pignotti of Goshen; Rosemarie O’Gorman of Chester; and Josine Stanley, Mary Pat Papini Guidetti, Lauramae Piper, and Gerri Sylvester of Middletown. By day they are engaged as nurses, lawyers, bus drivers, teachers and medical technicians. But Saturday night, they’ll knock your socks off with a special blend of harmony as they celebrate the 60th year of Sweet Adelines International. Tickets are $12 advance, $8 for groups, and $5 for children under 12. For more information and to reserve tickets, call 343-3481, 754-8740 or 294-0658.
